  1. I do 3 lots at the community garden and raised beds in the back yard, my thought is night crawlers are good but ive hear the small red ones are better, and you get them by organic matter,,, I have them now but I started with not so good dirt,,, I am doing the compost tea I have only did 3 rounds of it and about anytime I move the soil I see small red worms, and now my soil is great, plants too. Bag of manure compost and h20 I make a trash can ,,stir like soup and pour it on!

  2. almost every city, even very small ones have a recycle center where ppl can bring their paper products. cardboard is a great find. maybe a moving company could pass some your way. see imstillworking's vid abt adding sand and clay. it's in response to my suggestion of adding sand..its not that simple. good luck.

  3. Great update! I did some weeding today, I'm gonna make some compost tea with what I pulled up. I pulled dandelions too… I haven't been able to bring myself to try eating them yet… I know that's silly cuz they're just another perfectly edible plant and I love growing edible plants! I'll definitely give it a go next time I find one… which will probably be when I do more weeding tomorrow… ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Just planted my garden, still need to put in the potatoes and spinach before the rain on Tuesday.
    Keep the videos coming.

  5. I can't wait for the rain, the plants could use a drink. I hope everything grows well for you this season.

  6. Thanks, I'm taking all the advice I'm getting and putting it to use. starting to mulch with pine straw right now.

  7. Thanks, the dandelion flowers are awesome if you remove the green part that attaches to the stem. That's one of my favorite wild edibles now. The compost tea sounds good. I started a compost heap today.

  8. thanks man. things are starting to grow now and I'm hoping this rain forecast is going to set them off.

  9. Thanks a lot for the compost tea recipe. I might give it a try as I was planning on adding some composted manure between the rows and around the plants, just don't want to burn them up.

  10. I was planting cole crops yesterday and down in the soil is really loose and moist, but the surface is like clay. I don't get it. But, i'm definitely taking everyone's advice and starting a compost heap. We actually have one, but it hasn't been worked or added to in years since I last gardened this spot.

    Thanks for the help.

  11. ๐Ÿ™‚ I'll be happy if I can't get rid of the stinging nettle. It is slow to grow. I think the plants are just now getting their second leaves, but are still tiny.

  12. I'm not too concerned over the plastic, most if not all i use is food grade plastic, but it is something to consider.

  13. Thanks! I should have amended the soil before I planted, but I didn't realize it was so worn out. I don't remember this soil being clay, but it's been a while since I worked it. When I first started it 5 or so years back I added tons of compost. My uncle hasn't planted much since, but I guess it used it all up. The soil underneath seems nice and loose, it's just the top 2" or so that seems like clay. I can't figure that out. Either way I'm starting some compost and it will improve in time.

  14. Hey I made a video for you I'm not sure how to tag people on YouTube sooo…. Yea ๐Ÿ™‚ it's on my feed my apologies I called you MiNature lol I was close!

  15. I haven't been venturing into the woods lately, but am planning a trip to northern Michigan in search of the elusive morel mushroom.

  16. things have grown quite a bit since this video. If I can keep the cats from using it as a litter box I'll be set. One bonus is the cats keep the groundhog at bay. lol

  17. I encourage you to check out growingyourgreens here on youtube with John Kohler he has tips on how to improve your soil and much more. Great video!

  18. It is another wise information! I really don't have any idea about companion planting. However, you help me out through this. As far as I know, mixed plants that grows together will surely benefit each other.ย

  19. I just came across your video can i suggest maybe over wintering tilling with (Daikon Radish, Raphanus Sativus) You can buy them on Amazon. They are so pose to have such a long root they reach sub-soil break it up thus "tilling" maybe it could benefit your soil?

  20. I am disabled too and been homeless so know where your coming from. Things are a bit better now so don't give up… I wish you all the best for the future x
