How to Grow Raspberries at home in Pots – Gardening Tips



Growing raspberry plants in containers is easy. Raspberries come in red, yellow, and black varieties that ripen at different times of the year.

Autumn-fruiting raspberries fruit between August and October. These varieties don’t need supporting, making them ideal for growing in containers on the patio, and because the process of pruning them is so simple, they’re also a good choice for beginners. Try reliable ‘Autumn Treasure’, or for something more unusual yellow raspberries like ‘All gold’, are a good bet.

Primocane varieties produce flowers and fruit on stems grown in the same year. Most fruiting varieties in their first year of growth.

Floricane raspberries have stems that grow for one year before bearing fruit and flowers, and are usually summer fruiting varieties.

  1. I have fabric bags and I got 3 bare root raspberries in mail. Can you tell me what size container I will need for each for them to grow? You add fertilizer with the soil but in a container do you add it afterwards too or is mixing it enough? Thank you
