Watermelons do not like their leaves wet especially late in the evening because it can cause leaf damage. Try to do this when there is enough daylight and high temps to dry the leaves before dark. This is one of the biggest reasons for growing cukes on a fence. Plus after the first or second harvest you don’t have to bend over to see and pick the fruit. You can stand back from the plants and see the fruit. I go down one side and my bride goes the same row from the other direction and we find almost all of them. You never want to leave and vegetables on the plant after it is past it’s ripe stage or the plant will shut down and stop producing. You can use the sun light to see the shadows of the cukes in the foliage and find the ones that are hiding.

I like watering the bottom too. I flood the base and then walk by and pick the bugs off the squash by hand. Looks like that cantalope was pretty well wrapped up with squash bugs. I put an end to all that "mating" in my garden too!

never thought to propagate Cannas Lilies from seed pods….always cut them off after the spent blooms….they are so unsightly…bulb division was all I did…..but will try this year..just to see what happens. thanks

I too use insecticidal soap but I make my own. I just use a 32 oz spray bottle and put 1 tablespoon Castile soap and. Tablespoon of rubbing alcohol. I can make gallons and gallons… Enough to last a whole year for approx $15. Just a little tid bit to share that works great for me here middle TN. PS- I try to avoid spraying when the bees are out though and stay away from the lady bugs and praying mantis. Until your next video… Take care and keep sharing!

I don't think you r killing the right bug…the bug you want is the larvae eating inside the vine…the eggs are laid by a moth..you are killing a benificial insect in the video

hahah they happen to be mating, we'd like to interrupt that. Thats funny. yeah i have a minor squash bug issue ive been battling. the cucumber beetles killed alot of my cantaloupe, watermelons and and damn near all my cucumber plants.
I had a complete set of black tail mountain watermelon vines die on me at the end of July with lots of baby watermelons on them. The vines were looking very healthy the week before and have harvested watermelons off of them. I just went and looked at them on the 29th of July and they looked like someone sprayed roundup on them. Do you know the cause of this.

I live in Virginia. Recently I noticed some thing eating my yellow cucumber flowers petals, even on female flower petals before they grow nd open the petals to polinate.
And I noticed leafs also being eaten on edges. Is it a common problem?I noticed this problem 2 weeks ago. Is it because of the cold weather or it happens?

those bugs ruined all my pumpkin plants 🙁 i sprayed them with dawn soap and killed some bugs but in the morning more keep coming back, I hate those bugs so much
