Front Yard Garden Harvest 2022: Should You Start a Garden in Your Front Yard?

Our front yard garden is starting to produce the mature vegetables that we are looking forward to, here in zone 5 Wisconsin. As we work toward sustainability, making the most of all of our yard as garden space is key.

In this video we harvest some of our golden bush beans, our cauliflower, our broccoli, our peppers, and more. All grown in a small front yard.

We also talk about some of the challenges of growing these vegetables and show you the success you can have with hard work. This is only the very beginning of the harvest from our front yarden space, so stay tuned for the potatoes, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, okra, and more!

Thank you for enjoying this August garden harvest. If you have any questions, please let us know in the comments below!

  1. Lovely front garden harvest!
My favorite pole bean is the Kentucky Wonder.
My father-in-law Recommended this bean, and for the first time, I am growing it myself!

  2. My peppers didn’t do well this year. They were super slow growing and I’ve yet to have any to harvest.

  3. I haven't seen any of my regular YouTubers that had decent broccoli this year. Mine bolted due to an early spell of 90 degree temps.
My favorite bush bean used to be Blue Lake (it matured all at once, great for processing), but now I'm loving Jade. It produces all summer long and they're great tasting, stringless, and come off the plant easily.

  4. I noticed that although my potatoes in buckets did well, the tomatoes in buckets this year kept drying out. We had a lot of dry spells and then torrential rains the last few months and some of my tomatoes had those lines where they burst open.
