  1. Off topic but I was wondering with you trio of meyer lemon, lilia avacado, and owari satsuma, is it a concern for planting it so close to the house? Not sure if you did a video covering that topic? Stay Safe! Hope your garden bounces back to full health soon!

  2. Hello Anthony! Very informative post. Glad to see y'all are well. Dale's a brave boy…doesn't get scared by high winds.🙂🐕

  3. Tell me about it. I’m in Orlando. Our community garden is currently under 3-4 feet of water, like many homes in my neighborhood (thankfully mine was spared).

  4. Glad your garden and area you live in came through with minimal damage. Here in NY we just had rain but we are further inland from its path. We have gone through many hurricanes and it is second nature to prepare because we eo tend to lose power because of all the trees. Lots and lots of big trees, some supposedly a hundred years old or more. Those are the ones we tend to lose, or giant branches from them. Sandy we were out for six days. Flooding is also a major concern. I live across the street from a lake which has overflowed many times. We are probably all crazy but you will frequently see people, adults and children out at the lake checking the dam to see if it's going to go over. I personally think the Noreasters we get tend to cause the most damage unless the hurricane comes in really close or we are in the direct path. Either way hurricanes and noreasters can cause massive damage and loss. Prayers for anyone in the direct path of Ian and I hope the damage will not be as severe as those in Florida suffered.

  5. I’ve been waiting for this exact video! My parents live in Surfside & didn’t have much damage, if any. My family in SW FL, things were much different & for them. I kept wondering how your garden was holding up during this storm. Thankfully all was well!

  6. We were an hour and half away from the direct hit and saw 100 mph gusts here in Florida. Shredded and knocked my bananas over. Many huge oak trees were toppled in our area.

  7. I'm on the shore in VA. About 30-45 mins from VA beach. We got hit hard too. My greenhouse completely flipped over, along with EVERYTHING inside of it! All the plants, everything. But besides that, my garden made it through the storm. We prepared our garden the day B4 the storm came. all potted trees and plants got set up next to something so they didn't fall over. If you wouldn't of hand your trellis, your plants would have been destroyed! That trellis saved your trees. We got about a foot total rain fall. I bought a kiddy pool the day B4 to do some experimental hydro in, that kiddy pool is now COMPLETELY full. A good 12 inches of rain. It hit us hard with the amount of rain and wind. but everything but my greenhouse made it through, and we're supposed to get more rain tonight. So I took and put my fertilizers on everything during the break. Then when it rains, it goes down to the roots! Ur garden came out looking good.

  8. Dude. I seen your house and neighborhood in the background, you live in one of those 300-$400,000, cookie cutter houses. You realize you could sell that house, and buy a 10 acre garden farm for half of the price of that house? Seriously you could. Shoot you could probably own it free and clear that way, off the bank grid! Seriously look at properties in Southampton county VA, and Northampton county NC. And you'll see what I mean. I bought my one acre 3 bedroom 2 bath house, it's 2 separate 1/2 acre lots, the one has our house, the other half acre is the garden. We bought it for 14,000 in Jan of 2021! Seriously check out properties in these counties, it will shock you!

  9. Bro. Your winds arnt nothing lol. Thank cuba and florida for taking the brunt. Future note to self dont grow corn in hurricane season.

  10. Our cucumbers were ruined by pickle worms and my late cantelope. Oh and two plantings of zucchini. We’re in SC.

  11. We got quite a bit of wind and rain in Coastal SC. Lost a tree, but my garden and handmade tepee trellises did just fine! Glad you did okay as well!

  12. Dale,
Glad to know you are doing ok.
It's amazing what nature can do, the fierceness of it.
I live in Mo where the tornados did a direct hit a few years ago, about 10-15 mins from where I was living. (Now I've moved about a half hr away from that area)
They hit the state capitol in Jefferson City and surrounding areas.
The aftermath is hard to take in, especially when you realize how close you were to danger of this kind.
God bless and keep you always.
He is the one in control.

  13. Thank you very much for showing us your garden during this storm. In fact I was thinking about you, how you are doing in this bad weather. I hope you and your garden will be OK. Stay safe and goo luck.

  14. We Live in Tavares, Florida, about 35 to 40 Miles northwest of Orlando, we got hit with sustained winds at 75mph gusting to 100 mph, we got rain 15 to 20 inches, the damage was everywhere. We have been cleaning up for days now, We lost most of our garden, our new pepper plant just disappeared, however the damage here is nothing compared to South Florida, Its going to take a long time for Florida to recover but we Floridians are tough and we will make it by helping each other.

  15. Good afternoon. What a terrible natural disaster. In fact, the forest strip protects from strong winds. Hope you are safe. Take care of yourself and your loved ones🌻💙

  16. We did pretty good in the upstate. Just alot of rain we needed, an some winds. I thought I'd loose my tomatoes but nope their doing nice.

  17. Love the trellis system and looks like it works great. How do you keep your landscaping fabric down, especially in wind like that?

    Drey

  18. Sorry you got blown around, but at least you weren't in Florida's southwest coast at the island of Cayo Costa near Fort Myers and Cape Coral. While SC and NC look like great spots to live I won't trade the occasional ground shaking for the hurricanes, and tornadoes east of the Rockies. I do not like extreme weather.

  19. Thanks for your hard work even this bad weather u still video for us. I am glad u and your plants ok.

  20. Curious, will you have a video later this fall on the amendments you add and how you put your gardens to bed for the winter?

We have had good luck gathering seaweed from local beaches, covering it in composted cow manure, and then a cover crop of Winter Rye.

  21. My Florida (west coast) garden didn't survive. It's devastating, but much better than losing my house. 😭
