  1. Great video!! Always love good gardening tips!! The sweet potatoes were beautiful! ❤.
I saw someone on Facebook who grows their potatoes in stacked milk crates…keeps the critters out and easy to harvest! Going to try that next year!!!😊

  2. I do not keep my sweet potatoes in the dark. After I dig them, I spread them in a single layer to dry for 2 weeks in a dry place. Then I put them in banana boxes and keep them under my coffee table in my living room and some in a spare bedroom. They keep an entire year very well at 65-70 degrees. They are nice and sweet. Please don’t make this complicated. I’ve been growing all my own sweet potatoes for years now.

  3. I can tell you are artistic. You have to get the composition just right on the thumbnail! Found a recipe for sweet potato cornbread. I’m looking forward to trying it.

  4. Hi Kaye ….Darrell he is some awesome gardener
great haul of produce there,,,,,, you two make great gardening partners ,,,,,,Ed

  5. Think I’ve heard that those sweet potato leaves are edible. I love Petty.🐶 Nice harvest! Those beans sound interesting too. Sounds like a corn plan.💚👏

  6. Excellent work both of you! Getting a lot in and done. Needed. Will be a chilly winter I believe. We have had much more rain here this summer than usual – don't know if it is cloud seeding to relieve the water level in Lake Mead or if it is just an unusual monsoon season. Glad in any event. We need that water. I also had that same grain growing as a volunteer where I had bird seed. Did not harvest as it was only a few plants – did keep the Russian Black Oil Sunflowers that volunteered out of the bird seed though.

  7. You too are such a hoot! The voles are laughing at this video as they had a great harvest of Darrell's sweet potatoes. Hope the rest of the crop fairs a little better.

  8. I got a nice haul from my sweet potato's. One was literally the size of a football. I don't know if it is any good at that size though.

  9. I resonate with Darrell so much .. so many similar things. Personally if I'm growing sweets on flat ground .. I like to put them in large 18 in radial tires with both walls cut out. Till the ground first then take the tires and form a row of them touching .. shovel loose soil on both sides of the row into the tire .. then plant 5 or 6 slips in the tire. At the end of the season I cut the stems with a knife and pull them away .. then all I have to do is lift the tires up to expose all the potatoes .. and using a spading fork .. I can get them out easily. I haven't had a vole problem .. some field mice .. but if that would be a reason to put some chicken wire on the ground or keep some cats around close. The tires help keep the dirt from falling away in rains and help keep weeds at bay. I like to slice the potatoes .. steam/stir fry them with other veggies as well as bake them. You can also slice them into long slivers and bake them .. for some nice finger food treats. Of course they make great pies and many other things .. much healthier than regular white potatoes.

  10. Digging up my sweet potatoes this week, hope there’s no vole damage!😩 Wow those little buggers made mega damage! ❤😘🙏🏻

  11. So glad you found Darrel such a good teacher .. you can make syrup with sorgum. I got a late start with mine i feed the vines to the horses.(NO machines here .and cure the potatoes on racks in the greenhouse . I am moving the electic fencing in the gardens and turning the horse in there to eat all the weeds
