Turn My Apartment Patio into a Tiny Vertical GARDEN! | Container Gardening from Seeds

Welcome to my tiny apartment patio! I’m excited to start a balcony garden that grows edible herbs and vegetables! My patio is east & south facing, so it gets plenty of light, which is perfect to grow many types of vegetables. The first plant I have in my vertical garden pocket is called Lamb’s Ear, which thrives under full sun. The seeds I bought are cucumber, little finger carrots, stevia, lemon balm, and cat grass. It’s my first time germinating seeds, so I’m very excited to see how everything turns out! Stay tuned and I’ll update you guys with the progress very soon!

  1. Ah! looking forward to watching this tomorrow morning because its 12:30 am here in Sydney! 🙈also it looks like we uploaded at the same time!

  2. Yay I love hanging gardens! I use one of these for my succulents, and in my experience the fabric does dry the plants out quickly, so you may have to water these edibles thoroughly every day once they start growing! I also have a south eastern facing yard. Excited to see how it turns out! 💚🌱

  3. Once the carrots and cucumbers reach a decent size you may want to transplant them into large separate planters because carrots need deep soil for their roots, and cucumber plants can become huge vines under right conditions.

  4. I like how you repurposed the juice container as a scoop!

  5. Love this idea, I have a small garden and an allotment but always looking for more planting ideas haha. Can I recommend something for you to grow? Nasturtium is easy to grow from seed and it’s leaves are super cool (I know you like foliage) and they flower too. The whole plant is edible 🙂 and it is a good trailing plant too

  6. You need to find a bigger container for the carrots. They need a lot of depth space for the carrot to grow. The cucumbers also need to be transplanted in a bigger container. Don’t forget to put a trellis on it because cucumbers are climbers. They grow like vines.

  7. I’ll give you guys an update soon! I’ve transferred the carrots and cucumbers to large pots, because they grow hella FAST! 😂💚
