John from http://www.growingyourgreens.com/ goes on a field trip to Big Lots to share with you the current gardening deals they may have available near you. In this episode, John shares how he buys a walk-in greenhouse for $34.50 and many other organic gardening supplies for 70% off. After watching this episode you may just be separated from some of the green stuff, and I don’t mean the leafy green vegetables in your garden!

  1. Thanks for the video John. Sometimes these sale are regional sometimes not. I have scored some good deal because of your field trip videos. I enjoy getting great deals on garden stuff. Everyone should keep there eye open for these kind of deals if they would like to save some money. It is a good time to start looking. Stores want to get rid of garden stuff so they can make room for the fall and winter goods.

  2. Wow, thanks for sharing my video with your peeps! Knew you have a bigger following! After watching your video I had to check out 3 more stores by me…none of them had this deal or stuff. Your store looked to have a lot more stuff to pick from than mine.

  3. Unbelievable, thanks jon! Great find, good products. I once baught a pair of pruning shears for a buck and some change from this store. They broke in half on a small tree branch almost a twig. I am going back tommorow. Thanks!

  4. i have one of those green houses. i got 2 years ago on sale definitely worth the sale price here in zone 5.

  5. oh ya, i put 4 or 5 gallons of water on the bottom shelf to weigh it down and put it up against the house. the wind will knock it over otherwise. i put mine on wheels to bring it in on windy days.

  6. I bought one of those greenhouses last year, I put cinder blocks in it to hold it down, the thing somehow still went air born. my buddy bought one and his tore to pieces.

  7. John,

What's going on in Russia and the availability of Potash?! Thanks for clearing this up!

  8. for the walkin greenhouses you can add another sheet of plastic. i wrapped one all the way acrossed the top and under. it seems to hold up just fine. dog spikes or chain stakes make great anchors as well

  9. going to check out our BL on friday. thanks john i'll make sure to stop by the garden part so see what i can find. 🙂

  10. was still going on in my area… good thing i have 4-5 big lots in 10 miles of my work.. saved about $101.

  11. I let the pray mantis that show up in my garden do all the work.Plus I like rollie pollies and I consider them a beneficial insect. If you think about it your plants could use there poop similar to worm poop aka worm castings but its free and I have like thousands of them living in the soil. They don't harm any of my plants in fact my passion fruit vine is flooded with them and has exploded with new growth and won't stop growing.

  12. Thanks for the tip, John. I have 2 Big Lots near me (Orange County, CA) and one had only 50% off (got the walk-in greenhouse), and one had a much smaller selection of 70% off (go tree supports and ant traps), so it really does vary store by store. But glad I checked. I'm going to move my seed starting into the new greenhouse – maybe try to grow tomatoes in the winter. Thanks again.

  13. i did put up another post that i put it on wheels and bring it in on windy days. maybe that's why mine is still together. it does have a couple of small holes that i duct taped but the ties and zippers are still intact. i'll definitely be able to use it next year too. sorry it didn't work for you.

  14. It's that time of year for a big score. The vinyl green houses (rack with covering) are the cheapest way to go for a first greenhouse try. Once the vinyl is shot in a few years you should have a larger polycarbonate greenhouse and can still use the racks. You could also use these cheap vinyl greenhouses inside your larger greenhouse to give your plants another layer.

  15. I'm from OC too! Which store did you go to for the walk-in greenhouse? Thanks so much!

  16. I just wanted to say thank you for your excellent video's. My husband and I have been struggling for a couple years with gardening, and your positive energy paired with your passion and knowledge have truly inspired us. We are addicted to your channel! Anyway, just wanted to say thank you.

  17. Thank you John!!! and Thank you to the person that took the time to alert John so he could pass it on to all of us…It's so nice to see people go out of their way to let someone else in on a good deal…

  18. Thanks! I saw a video for this earlier, but my Big Lots was cleared out of a lot of stuff. I wasn't sure what I was looking for. Thanks to you, I found a three tray greenhouse ($10!), but couldn't find everything else that you showed on the video.

  19. Not in the Michigan stores. They don't have crap – literately, no fertilizers at all. The planting trays that look like they are 50% off are full price at the Casher. Just bait & switch in Michigan.

  20. Finally got in a good deal, but unfortunately my local store didn't have as much variety as you showed. Overall, saved around $700 – thanks John.

  21. Why does it matter if compost is organic or not? Doesn't natural aeration from the ground and rain make it organic? The earth aerates all the cow manure and pee in pastures doesn't it?

  22. nice video , If anyone else wants to produce you own tasty fresh vegetables quick it's worth considering – Banfan Incredible Organic Miracle (do a search on google)? Ive heard some great things about it from my work buddy – tasty!

  23. The deal is over? Another deal for Abba Patio greenhouse from Bizarkdeal is highly recommended.
