  1. Definetely do the no dig method. My last bed was no dig and so much easier, I just had to dig out the outline. Put the paper or cardboard down now. I'm in zone 6, I used layers of packing paper instead of cardboard. I covered the paper with soil and then mulched in fall but the following spring the grass and weeds werent completely dead. Maybe because I'm in a cooler climate, not sure. I still planted but left the paper in place by end of summer the weeds and grass finally were gone and my heucheras, hostas, and hydrangeas all did great. I think your sketch is perfect, you have great ideas. Congratulations on your move. I hope you love your new home. I'm excited to see your garden in progress.

  2. Those trees can be a challenge come later spring. Make sure to adjust to where the sun is in the sky during the growing season. Looking forward to see where your garden ends up. Thank you for sharing

  3. Hi Crystal. I love your enthusiasm, it’s totally contagious! I’m from Cleveland, Oh area and garden in zone 6a. I’m trying winter sowing this year. I’m very excited too! Still in the process of collecting containers. What zone are you in? Happy new year!
