We have decided to pull some things up from the large heart tunnel to make room for our fall and winter garden. It didn’t make sense keeping large plants taking up a lot of room when we really need it. We didn’t feel like we get the yield to offset the other things we can be growing and planting now. Also checking out And testing effective micro organisms which we are having terrific results with. Please click our affiliate link below.

  2. Wow! your container brassica's look marvelous. I laughed when you were talking about the EM-1 was good for all those odors cuz I thought maybe I should get a 55 gallon barrel of it, ha! The EM-1 sounds like good stuff. Can't wait to hear more about it. Have a great day!

  3. I reached the same conclusion you did with my last couple of tomato plants, so out they went this morning. I never planted any winter squash or pumpkins after my battle with the vine borers, although the chickens "planted" some kind of pumpkin (probably) from the ones the neighbors gave them last fall. Nothing set on those, but they like nibbling on the leaves and aren't in any actual planting space, so they can stay a bit longer. Okra and climbing beans I have left are just to produce seed for me now. Peppers are loaded and ripening, still setting fruit. Going to let those stay and plant around them or pot up a few this week to overwinter.
Been getting the root crops, lettuces, various greens and brassicas planted. The hoophouse is taking shape. It's exciting!
Keep up the fight! Interesting info on the probiotics and beneficial microbes. I've used some of that stuff and similar things in my gardens. I'm also a big fan of the beneficial nematodes and fungi. I noticed my mushroom compost (back when I grew a lot of mushrooms) helped my beds greatly. I'll check out your links and might take advantage of their offerings. I like to keep things on hand, since you never know when you will need it but can't get it. I think I get enough "dirt" in my diet (I snack off my unwashed produce in my garden all the time) to be good, but Hubs has always had a tender tummy. His birthday is coming up, so maybe we might give this a shot. Thanks for sharing.
Sending a lot of hugs and love. Enjoy the weather and take care y'all.

  4. I believe you made a great choice by ripping out of vegetables that are not sure of good crops and moving onto something you know for sure they would do well. Thank you for the info on the EM1, affiliates, and bokashi. Which by the way, you affiliates did not work for me. Could you please check the link? Thank you and God bless💕

  5. Like to hear your midnight rambles. lol It really does help me to be still if I wake up in the night to just think.
A lot of the days' sweat and visual stimulation is removed and you can sort things out a little better sometimes.
I like some of your choices and decisions….makes sense.
Best of all I liked it when you said "We're gonna learn it and we're gonna do it guys!" And I believe you will. Jesus bless.

  6. Hey Jill, the transition has started and we re going to be planting this weekend. We really need rain bad. Have you tried dusting the plants with diatomaceous earth? We went through all our food storage and FIFO everything. I'll check out that product line. God Bless, Mike

  7. That is some great information! I’m definitely going to get some of the plant products to try out.

Regarding acid reflux. I’ve had luck taking 2T apple cider vinegar (with the mother) once/day. It seems counter intuitive but I have watch several videos by doctors that have recommended this. When I forget to take it I can tell a difference the following day. That’s just FYI. I use 2T with a squeeze of fresh Lemmon in some water with a few cubes of ice and sip through a straw. Be sure to rinse mouth good or brush your teeth as the acid will be hard on your teeth.

I picked a yellow squash and cucumber last evening. I think my injections of BT mix helped my squash and zucchini with the vine borers. I have 2 zucchini that should be ready in a couple of days. I’m going to plan to inject the stems again this evening.

  8. HeyJill, I started using these, lids. They are also made in the USA ! I love them. They are very heavy, like the canning lids used to be. Give them a try if you haven't , yet. DENALI CANNING

  9. Hi Jill, I actually have had my fall garden in since mid August. Mostly direct seeding tho so that does make a difference I suppose. I am up north of you in Texas so we are probably in different zones. I am in zone 7b. I have had my Brussel Sprouts and broccoli in the ground for about 6 weeks. Wonder if I planted to early. They are looking great and growing well so we will see. The use of our 40% shade cloth made a WORLD of difference those last days of Aug – early Sept. Already harvesting lettuce, baby spinach, green beans, italian bush beans, radishes and sugar snap peas from our Fall garden area. I was also trying to decide if I should pull my tomatoes. The heat really stressed them and I am really not confident they will make any more despite the blooms. Two garden plots is A LOT of work! What was I thinking!?!?!??? lol Lovin seeing all your veggie choices. I wish I could have found some purple hull pea seeds up in my area, but never saw any. That was really strange. Keep the awesome videos coming. We can all learn from each other.

  10. Jill, heartburn is caused be weakening ph of the stomach acid. Usually means your stomach is taking too much time to digest the food. You can fix this by adding vinegar to your diet – before eating drink apple cider vinegar or drink pickle juice to fix the issue.

  11. Hi. About tomatoes. I planted early crop tomatoes 4th of July and Early Treat this year. The plants gave me many early tomatoes in Spring before the heat came and I kept them through out the summer. I pruned them three times I think. Now I have again many tomatoes which are ripening every day. I think the early crop tomatoes indeterminate are good for Texas short Spring and Fall season. I will try another varieties next time. But definitely we will have few early crop tomatoes.

  12. Hey, Rusk, Texas is in my neck of the woods. I'm going to be checking this out for sure. Love to support local businesses. Thanks for sharing this, Jill.

  13. Took out tomatoes and melons last week to make room for other things. Always so much to do and not enough time it seems. Blessings!

  14. Jill, do you have a video showing how you set up those black totes that you have your plants growing?? We're just starting out learning. Thanks so much for all the knowledge you share here on YouTube, Lori. ❤❤🙏🙏🙏👋

  15. I have learned more food for thought from you an Greg than any other channel ❤️ plus spending time with you is a blessing 🙏
