Visit a Texas Backyard Designed for Lounge and Play

Pool builder Randy Angell shows Rick Spence a dramatic makeover of his client’s backyard in Plano, Texas. This yard went from blank slate to resort style oasis. Angell updated the once-empty rectangle space to include zones for lounging, swimming and playing. A raised deck features an ipe wood shade structure and fire feature. A shallow swimming pool was designed with volleyball in mind. A large spa can be used as a small pool for kids. And a putting green offers an opportunity to improve one’s short game. Angell also discusses how synthetic grass can help soften hardscaping and shares tips for elements you’ll want to consider when working with a pro on Houzz to design an in-ground pool.

  1. Wow, good job RANDY, the plants, the pool, the grass everything looks and fits amazingly & cohesively together.

  2. Wow, absolutely beautiful. I too have a rectangular area that is just covered in sod, however, as beautiful at this makeover is, it would be just a little too over the top for my 3 bedroom ranch. Anytime Randy is looking to do a pro bono makeover, sign me up. 😉 Seriously, I loved everything about this makeover. Thank you for sharing, Rick and Randy. Stay safe.

  3. Good interview, good questions and appreciate the interviewer giving Randy a chance to answer without interruptions. Useful information. And the design speaks for itself–It is beautiful!
