Garden Plans

Garden Plans for 2022. Landscaping and Hardscaping. Japanese Maple Garden, Adding A Border & Trees.

This year we have a few projects planned for our garden, both landscaping and hardscaping. In 2022 we’re heading into our 9th gardening season in our home. Each year we tackle a few projects as time and budget allows. We took a walk around our garden to access what projects should take priority and are most feasible. We have a Japanese Garden project we started last year, that we will continue to work on. I will also be creating a new border, and planting a couple new specimen trees. Join us this season as well tackle these projects one at a time! Thanks for watching. -Steph

  1. Great video, Steph! George gave you a solid 👍and a couple of half ways. What a beautiful landscape and home you have and it’s wonderful to see you and George creating practical beautiful spaces in the garden! Can’t wait to see how things progress! Keep those videos coming! I’m learning along the way! Well done my friend!

  2. Hey Steph! I totally see a pergola over patio next to the shed. Then grow something up it from the grass. Just my take on it!

  3. I’m glad somebody else knows what I go through every time I want to ‘ruin’ grass to create more garden space! 😂

  4. I got such a laugh at the shed when record-scratch George steps into the frame. Your home and yard are gorgeous. Can't wait to see your new additions. We're having some large pines removed from beside the house and will have to have topsoil brought in to level it out. Thinking this year we may just have a mudpit for a good deal of the season. So I'll just have to enjoy others hosta trees.

  5. Oh my goodness…I stopped your video after a minute because that's exactly what my husband says as well!!! He prefers a nice big empty rectangle of a yard so mowing is easier and I want all the pretty things. Typically he mows the back and I mow the front. Last year we expanded our front yard and I'm in the process of decking it out with all the things…trees, shrubs, perennials, bulbs, and fun new beds. 🌳 🌻 I have to propose my plan in the next couple months and I'm hoping he gives as many 'maybe's as George did! Your plans sound lovely! Can't wait to watch them happen.

  6. Trellising a star Jasmine would not be hard. A honey suckle would look good too. I say go for it; a cord diamond pattern on screws on the shed will not destroy the shed anymore than a nail in the wall for a picture. Another option is to buy pre-made wood trellises and have them against the garage.

  7. A lot of great ideas for upcoming projects. I think boulders for soil retention would look good at the edge of the property where the grace goes down hill.

  8. Hi! New subscriber. I like your plans to create more flower beds and island beds. I am looking forward to summer to see more of your japanese tree collection. I like Monty D and one my favorite arboretum in England which is on my bucket list to visit is Bressingham Gardens. Carol Klien has a series called great british garden season by season. I have been binging that series throughout winter. It's well worth the watch. Thank you for sharing your lovely garden.

  9. Your husband and mine think the same. My husband tells me my beds have made mowing much more difficult. Also, he says if I die first, he will mow down everything and plant grass.

  10. Lol! This sounds like my husband…less to mow around! We have a great marriage too & he's so sweet to make my dream come true for adding slim conifers & a conifer garden for privacy on our corner lot, which also runs along a 4 lane highway. Sadly, we are Zone 4b & there are no Japanese Maples we can grow here.
