The Most Useful Gardening Tool? Hori Hori Knife

I’ve been using a hori hori knife for the past year for many different purposes and have found it to be a very useful multi-tool in the garden. I’ll show you the way I’ve enjoyed using mine and why I like having it in my tool line up.

  1. Not bending at all?
Im looking for this exact kinda knife cuz ya many uses
I found a digging stick at times works better than a shovel i laughed while i watched Australian women dig faster with a stick than people with a shovel i had to try it and wow yes perfect

But a stick don't cut roots but i would rather buy quality than give up my stick for garbage
Buy it once and you don't have to buy it again unless you loose it or give it away lol

  2. Is that sharp enough to cut some weeds?
But, hori hori knife seems like one piece devil fruit name, hehe… so funny…

Good job for ur nice video.
    Warm greeting from indonesia.

  3. Found a mini hori looking garden tool a while ago, about 3" blade length. Very handy, esp when separating seedlings.

  4. I used the GINZU knife sold on TV in 60s as one of 3 tools to turn my backyard into a paradise. used aluminum sewing scissors to control blackberry bushes with no gloves needed. 3rd tool was a spade. could also use GINZU knife for car repair. too many tools eat your profits n production yields

  5. I remember seeing this video a month ago. And return to purchase from the link to Amazon. But it says that it is currently unavailable. If I order another one after taking the link will it still give you a percentage?

  6. I have a high-carbon steel hori hori that I got from Barebones Living and love it for all the reasons you've outlined…especially getting under those bermuda grass roots. Thanks for a very detailed review of this tool.

  7. I’m sorry, but as a professional, I find soil knives only useful for the ocd gardener who wants to stay on their knees and is too lazy to use proper soil working tools. If you don’t prep your soil and maintain moisture you can’t pull weeds. But a stirrup hoe will turn weeding into a short task. And if you don’t know proper planting depth, measure your hands one day. My thumb is two inches. Soil knife is overall a useless shortcut. It’s like all the people who love felco pruners, they’re garbage. Get a pair of Okatsune.

  8. I want to carry this in an open-carry boot sheath or ankle sheath, nothing complicated, just something on my calf that stays put. Can anyone please link me to such a solution? I am not any kind of sheath expert and I just want an existing answer from someone else who has already figured out how to make/accomplish this, I don't feel like INVENTING this myself, and it seems like I shouldn't have to, but googling it is providing no good answers. Can I use a soccer shin guard somehow and a Velcro strap kit???

  9. Machete, hedge shears, shovel, and gardening shade are more important for me. I don't have barren land like you any more. I have grass and weed everywhere. I have worms and wild mushrooms everywhere too because of the organic matter in the soil. Your soil doesn't look good. You need to let everything grow to accumulate more organic matter so that beneficial microorganisms, worms, and beneficial insects, like spiders, can grow.

  10. great video. going to buy my second hori hori. The second one will be this Japanese made one. Sorry I can't use your amazon link because I'm in Europe. subbed.

  11. Their marketing department didn't do themselves a favour giving it a name of "Sensei". it is exactly the same as the dolts who make Japanese style kitchen knives, name them something stupid like "SWORDMASTER" and then miss all the traditional geometry, as long as the Western yuppie buys it, it doesn't matter if it is just a highly polished turd, as for the design it would have been better just with a traditional exposed tang, high carbon steel, and wooden handles, so you could be assured of the strength.
