  1. Erin I tried 3 times to grow them after I saw your edge… they never grow for me.. I live in South Florida and it's just weird.. I can even get the seeds to germinate.. I don't know what I'm doing wrong 😩🙄🤷‍♀️

  2. I love this hedge!!! I have chives growing already in my front bed that were planted as an experiment with my daughter. I didn’t know they came back every year😆. She uses them in her ramen noodles-🙄 she is 20 and in virtual college. I can’t believe they even grow where we planted because it gets no direct sun- north facing house. This hedge will be our next project. 😊

  3. I have a one foot square of chives that self seeded in between my bricks against my deck. They are handy to my kitchen and I cook with them all the time. I will make the vinegar and freeze some. Thanks for the tips. 😍

  4. Love ALL of your videos! I would like to get my hands on that little hand spade/shovel, where did you get it Erin?

  5. Thqnks so much, that was lovely…its amazing how versatile those lil things are…you have made the most of them…will look for ways to incorporate your discovery! cheers from sunny FL! ☀️🤗🥬

  6. I love your chive hedge! I am wondering if it helps in preventing pests like slugs and snails getting to your other plants inside the hedge?

  7. New here! I thought I was the only person who grew chives for on ornamental fun! I also use them in them as a spikey center in pots!

  8. Hi. I thought I saw one of your videos where you were trying out a protective hand cream under your garden gloves. Even if I wear gloves, my nails get really dirty. I've tried the soap bar method but they still got dirty. Any way to save your hands – my hands are always in the dirt. Thanks!

  9. @impatient gardener I planned to plant a chives hedge around a new garden bed but just saw a video by MI Gardener where he says that chives are very invasive! I ordered common chives from Johnny seeds but am now hesitant. Help!

  10. I had never grown chives, so was pleased when those and my green onion popped up looking great right away, and I have been munching the flowers for a while already. The vinegar sounds great and I may have to use it as a flower bed trim for my little front flower bed too. Is an attractive plant

  11. I LOVE the purple flowers and the soft grass-like leaves of chives so much that I took the divides from my herb garden and plopped them here and there into my perennial beds specifically for spring color! If you are worried about how quickly they divide and expand as a clump use them as "borrowed" interest by making them a portable color/texture plant: Plant a clump in a small to medium size( 6-8") glazed or terracotta pot. Then borrow their soft texture or flower showy-ness where ever you need a pot of something to fill in a gap in your flowerbed until you find the right replacement plant for that spot. When you find that plant or the new baby plant has grown up enough to fill in the gap, then pick up your pot o' chives and move it on to the next spot! I do the same thing with red geraniums. There is nothing that screams "Classic Cottage" than a terracotta pot of any size, of red geraniums! "borrow" their color and texture like artwork on loan, just to shake things up a little! I winter-over a few in pots in the garage like dahlia tubers. They go dormant in the darkness and sheltered cold of my garage. ( we're zone 5) but will die if left in the ground. But like the chives, will come out as early as the daytime temps are above freezing even if the nights are still in the 30s. 👍😉
