  1. A delightful well done presentation.
Iโ€™m a horticulturist. My advice is: try it in the shade. As of now there are no plant police so plant cruelty isnโ€™t a felony

  2. "Rocket" as you call it is actually a variety of Arugula. Choose Arugula seed carefully as some in the Rocket varieties are small* leafed. Most will reseed themselves.

  3. Hi there from Olakhoma, USA…I just found your channel and it is very interesting. I've had the Alpinr Strawberry in my yard in Ohio. I love Peppermint. i dry the leave and use for hot tea. I dry several herbs. Chives i like to cut up and freese.Thank you.

  4. EDIBLE SHADE PLANTS
1- Rainbow chard, lots of dishes
2- Sweet Potato, full shade ok, dies back on frost, but returns when warm, more edible greens than tubers when planted in shade
3- Rocket, keep wetter, or gets bitter when dry
    4- Lettuce, doesn't like heat
    5- Tamarillo, sour/tart, need wind_frost protection,
    6- Kale, slows in shade,
7- Nasturtium, wraps, salads, pestos and many recipes,
8- Alpine Strawberries, white variety tastes like pineapple
    9- Radish, fast
10- Blueberry, good understory plant, under pines, ok in pots
11- Celery, slow to establish, then prolific, keep moist, or it will go bitter
    12- Parsley,
    13- Mint, has runners underground,
14- Rhubarb, heavy feeder, needs compost,
    15- Bush beans,
16- Monstera, big beautiful leaves once established
    17- Ginger
    18- Cardamom Ginger,
    19- Chives,
    20- Herbs,
    21- Mushrooms
    22- Guava tree,

  5. I live in Canada, therefore I can't grow anything in the winter. Most of my small garden is shaded by a massive magnolia tree and I get lots of snails and squirrels who eat or dig up my plants.

  6. Our winter goes to -20 F in Minneapolis! So we have just 3 months of warm some hot weather . Right today we had 59 and high of 64 in 10 of September ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ

  7. How do you deal with slugs and snails? I just really don't want to poison the area or drown them… ๐Ÿ™

  8. I LOVE guava and now youโ€™ve convinced me that I need to grow one. I have a garden that is in shade most of the day from fences and trees and I have a spot in the corner that is calling out for a tree and I think a guava would be perfect. Also, so lovely to see a garden video in WA. Iโ€™m in the South west and this is the closest Iโ€™ve found to my local conditions.

  9. I've got nothing but shade, so this is what I've been looking for. Love the shots of the meals you make using what you've grown. Gives me more inspiration.

  10. Thanks for your insights. I've been gardening for decades, but I learned some new things from you and appreciate your insights. Go Kiwis!

  11. We drink a lot of mint tea so we are able to manage ours pretty well. Also we are in sand and get pretty hot and dry which slows it down in my experience. It will take things over in the right conditions though.

  12. I have my tamarillos as a savory with Wholemeal toast and Garlic and lots of salt. great with cheese toast too.
I never keep in the fridge in sugar for sweets , this Ruins them. Puts Zing into pizza salad stir-fry etc ๐Ÿ™‚

  13. Chard in the Winter?? Not in Minnesota! ๐Ÿ™‚ And NO sweet potatoes at all

  14. Great video, really loads of good info and I was pleasantly surprised you shared the strawberry guava, as I grew up with one in our garden (my dad loved unusual fruit trees) and not many people know about it. I live in South Africa

  15. Thank you for this valuable information about growing in the shade. My yard is full of trees so most of my yard is shade.
