Oxalis time-lapse observations and hypotheses:
– Rhythmic “buzzing” of the dead leaf – it was cold that night so the heater was turning on and off. The vent was directed towards the plant
– Drooping of stems in the middle of the day but recovering by night – the midday sun (filtered through a translucent curtain) and the associated heat caused the plant to transpire more rapidly. Perhaps the plant signalled to pull back its water into the roots for safe storage until evening, when the turgor pressure could be restored with lower risk of water loss
