Pastry chef and cookbook author Natasha Pickowicz lives in a 375 square foot studio in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, but she also has something rare in New York: her own private backyard. Raised beds built by the previous tenant hold lettuces, shiso, sage, French sorrel, lemon verbena, chamomile and a three-year-old strawberry plant. A lilac tree and a fig tree fill out the space, and everything she grows is edible.Today, Homeworthy steps into Natasha’s backyard garden in Brooklyn. She shares her hands-off, organic approach, why lemon verbena is a pastry chef’s favorite herb and how she picks flowers and herbs for her cakes, from nasturtiums and marigolds to chamomile and bolted parsley. She also explains why she treats the backyard like another room of her home. For more extraordinary home tours, visit our website: https://homeworthy.com/Shop picks inspired by our tours: https://shopmy.us/shop/homeworthyKeep up with our latest tours: https://homeworthy.myflodesk.com/homeworthynewsletterFollow us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/homeworthyFollow us on TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@homeworthy#GardenTour #EdibleGarden #UrbanGarden #BrooklynHome #RaisedBeds #GrowYourOwn #Homeworthy #GardenWorthy
