First time growing Goya (bitter melon) this year and I wanted to share how healthy and mighty this single seed turned out. Could not keep up with pruning but still producing so much!! My neighbors don’t want them and our family can eat so much goya lol

That turned out much healthier than any of my vines, which had mostly yellowish leaves most of the year. They like a lot of sunlight, a lot of heat and a lot of fertilizer, and I was growing mine in containers–probably not fertilizing enough, but I still got about a dozen fruits off my best plant. It’s the perfect vine to grow on a big trellis next to a cucumber. In the hottest parts of the summer, cucumbers can slow down production, but the bitter melon will speed up in the heat.

Do you remember which variety you planted? I grew “green fairy,” which I think is a Taiwanese type.
