My garden may not be the prettiest, or have good soil (it's basically sand) but with a layer of woodchips and very little effort I had a massive harvest.

I planted and harvested. Did not pick a single weed or watered a drop. I'm too damn lazy for that.

Nitrogen tie up? Never heard of her. Just planted everything into fresh woodchips.

30kg of potatoes, over a hundred balls of garlic, tomatoes and zucchini all summer and my basement full of squash.

It was my first year gardening here. One thing i will say is that I probably will make it look slightly prettier next year by making nice borders and being a bit more intentional about plant grouping instead of just haphazardly planting.

I love that 🥰 not everything has to be prettied up or optimized to the max!

Also, it is interesting to see how much little effort may yield.

Nice that you had a good harvest for your first year ! But don’t get fooled, you will only be able to tell you are a good garderner if your garden stays fertile in the long term.
