Located in Speedway, Indiana, Dammann’s Greenhouse is a 10-acre garden center with one very mischievous tenant they’d love to evict: a squirrel named Frank. According to the staff, Frank destroys merchandise, helps himself to plants, and is an all-around menace. Even the greenhouse’s resident pest control, an orange cat, wants nothing to do with him. They joke that Frank has “evil in his heart,” and the cat won’t even attempt to chase him away.
They’ve tried relocating Frank, but the little squirrel always finds his way back inside to continue his life of destruction…and petty theft. After watching the video, it’s easy to see why the staff has accepted their fate. At this point, Frank isn’t just living at Dammann’s Greenhouse; he’s basically running the place.
Dammann’s Greenhouse had only one thing to say in the caption: “We hate Frank.” Poor Frank has earned a bad rap and is living up to his bad reputation!

Why Some Squirrels Become So Comfortable Around People
Viewer @WorstWitch joked, “Oh, you named him. You know the rules. If he has a name, he lives there.” We couldn’t help but laugh when Dammann’s replied, “We didn’t name him. It was on his business card: ‘Frank the Squirrel: Professional Birdseed Thief.'”
According to Treehugger, squirrels are generally less afraid of humans than they are of many other animals. While they don’t necessarily “like” people, they do learn to recognize humans as a source of food, especially if they’ve been offered nuts or other treats in the past.
Humans can also unintentionally provide squirrels with the perfect place to call home. Backyards, parks, and garden centers offer plenty of trees, shelter, and natural food sources, making them ideal places to settle in.
As Treehugger explains, “These intelligent rodents do indeed have excellent memories, and because humans have encroached on their habitats, squirrels have become accustomed to human behavior.”
While squirrels can be entertaining to watch, they can also be very destructive. According to Wildlife Management Services, many squirrel species chew on plants, raid bird feeders, dig up gardens, and even damage homes by gnawing on wood, wiring, and insulation. To help minimize the mess, they recommend squirrel-proofing your property with secure bird feeders, protective barriers around vulnerable plants, and other humane deterrents to reduce the damage these energetic and mischievous little troublemakers can cause.
As for Frank? Something tells us he’ll be handing out his business cards at Dammann’s Greenhouse for years to come, whether they approve of the freeloading tenant or not.
In fact… here some more “evidence” of him wreaking havoc on the garden center like it’s his job.
Oh, Frank… something tells us you won’t be winning employee of the month anytime soon…
