Hi everyone,

This year I grew my first eggplants (obsidians) in my home garden in Switzerland (we have had a very hot summer with more than 35C during multiple periods).

Since middle August (so after the heat waves), I have been harvesting eggplants that are yellow (see picture). None of the fruits were like this during the rest of the season (other picture in my fridge). They taste fine but seem to struggle ripening and thus remain bitter (and super hard). They get this taint already when very young on the plant.

Does anyone have an idea what this is due to (high temps, low temps during the night, nutriments, plant health) ?

Thanks !

Very overripe. Pick at any size when still shiny

Yeah I would say – very overripe. Mine go black, then brown, then a very dirty yellow-brown colour if I leave them too long.
