I recently cleared about 3 acres of woods on my new property. It was mostly weed trees (Russian olives and such) and quite a few pine tress. I pulled the roots on all of them. I ran a lot of em over with the brush cutter attached to a skid steer (rented). Now the cleanup starts. I plan on burning the brush and branches. What would yall recommend to clean up the left over mess scattered all over the ground. I have access to an older tractor and can buy some old attachments if I need to. Or should I rent a skid steer again and a specific attachment to help? I’ve tried using the root grappler to just end up ripping up the dirt and making an even bigger mess. Any advice is greatly appreciated

I had an acre done and I just picked up the slash little by little in a wheel barrow and made an enormous burn pile. I’m sure there’s a tool out there but I got a lot of satisfaction out of it.

Probably be pretty dusty work on that site but a roller brush or a power rake should push / pile that stuff up. I’d recommend a skid steer but a tractor should work too.

Next time…there me is a machine that will just leave wood chips behind it, it is quite destructive, but would get this entire job done one swoop at a time. Rent that or get someone to do the work for you.

I haven’t used it for this, but a landscape rake on the back of tractor should work on this. It won’t pull out attached roots, but anything laying there just be pulled along.

Soap and water and a little elbow grease

I use a tractor with a mechanical grapple on the loader for work like that. Maybe put a rake on the back to push smallest stuff into piles but probably just grapple.

Do a soil analysis and consider fertilizing appropriately and very heavy. Then drop some clover this fall to put even more nitrogen into the soil.

Then offer to rotate farm through chickens and pigs the work the soil and fertilize, goats clear debris
