Potatoes? I wouldnt count on much other than herbs producing anything decent.
I don’t think any of the veggies you listed would work in these, as there is no depth for the roots. If you’d like a container garden you can find some large pots to use! Otherwise smaller things like herbs *may* work in a vessel this size

Why would you want to add plastic to your garden?
Just buy grow bags. Recycle the trash.

Yah, holes in dirt work just fine, no need to reinvent the wheel
i would not plant my veggies that i will eat later on plastic bottles.. Decorating plant, maybe. Be careful of the chemicals from plastic bottle that can be uptaken by the plant..
Isn’t there perfectly good dirt directly underneath that plastic that is probably actively breaking down into something toxic?
All for upcycling but sometimes trash is trash (recycling)

OP probably has access to more of these soda bottles than to other kinds of pots. Please stop advising them to buy other things instead. Anyway, the answer is probably just herbs. Maybe strawberries. Lettuce? Potatoes won’t fit, tomatoes need more root depth, even cherry tomatoes unless you are buying a micro variety. I feel like onions need more breathing room. Could try peas, but if it was able to stay small then it wouldn’t put out many pods. Maybe you could try a small variety of pepper.
