Some of them turned out to be about the size of a softball. Is there something wrong here sacrificing quality? I used some today in a pot roast and they seem to be alright. Looking for knowledge and advice from a more experienced potato grower.

You’ve nothing to worry about except if your mandolin is sharp. Unlike squash that get pithy, not really the case with taters

Wow! Thats awesome! Mine always end up much smaller. Grew russetts this year and they actually came out big.
Not uncommon for them to get softball size with good fertile loose soil and adequate water. If the plant is alive, the longer you leave them the bigger they can get. I actually got some seed potatoes that size this year.
I’m no expert, but I love growing Yukons. Mine have been round instead of oblong too, but they are perfect. And yes, usually bigger than other varieties.
So jealous of this haul!

Yukons were more prolific than any other variety I’ve grown. But not like that!
