DE PERE (WLUK) — Dairy Cares of Wisconsin will hold its annual garden party benefit for Children’s Wisconsin Saturday evening.

Dairy Cares is a non-profit headed by people in the agriculture and dairy industries. Over the last 15 years, Dairy Cares has raised $3.7 million for Children’s Wisconsin.

It plans to add to that total Saturday. “We think it’s potentially $450,000 to $500,000 that we’re gonna raise,” said Dairy Cares Sponsorship Co-Chair Jim Ostrom. “And I think it’s truly amazing. People come to it for a lot of reasons, but when you’re on the grounds talking to people they’re all passionate about one thing, and that’s helping children.”

Dozens of companies and individuals are sponsoring the event. Cheese and ice cream will be available to sample, provided by Nasonville Dairy, LaGrander’s Cheese, LaClare Family Creamery, Widmer’s Cheese Cellars, Lamagna Cheese, and Pine River Cheese Spread.

Ostrom is proud of the dairy industry, and Northeast Wisconsin doing its part to make a difference.

“Here we are the dairy industry hosting this event, but when you look around there’s a lot of De Pere, Green Bay, Ashwaubenon, Appleton people that just love the cause and they love to be a part of it and they are no real Connection with agriculture. They just think it’s a great cause and a great event. So it’s become more than dairy,” Ostrom said.

The funds will be raised through donations and a live auction held during the garden party. Donations can also be made through a silent online auction.
