The Cape Cod Children’s Garden program gives children the opportunity to learn about gardening through hands-on activities at the Brewster Community Garden.
This seasonal program is operated by the Master Gardener Association of Cape Cod in partnership with Cape Cod Cooperative Extension.
Children work alongside Master Gardeners to learn how plants grow, how gardens are cared for, and how food is grown in the garden. The program focuses on hands-on learning, curiosity, and spending time outdoors.
This program is a great opportunity for children on Cape Cod who are interested in gardening, nature, and outdoor learning.
Who Can Participate
Children ages 8 to 12 are welcome to apply.
The program is designed for children who enjoy learning outdoors and participating in weekly gardening activities.
Program Schedule
The 2026 Children’s Garden program runs:
May 5 through August 27, 2026
Children attend one session each week and will be assigned to either:
• Tuesday group
or
• Thursday group
Time:
3:30 pm to 5:00 pm
Attendance at weekly sessions is expected so children can fully participate in the garden activities throughout the season.

The garden provides a welcoming outdoor learning space where children can explore gardening, soil, plants, and seasonal crops.
How the Application Process Works
Applications are due March 16, 2026.
Space is limited. Children will be selected in the order applications are received before the deadline.
To help make the program available to more children in the community, applicants who previously participated will be placed on a wait list and accepted if space becomes available.
Families will be notified by March 23, 2026 if their child has been selected.
Selected families will receive additional forms including health, liability, and commitment forms before the program begins.
