Terrain Just Opened a New Northeast Location, and It's a Gardener's Dream

If you happen to be near the Boston area, there may be a new one-stop destination you want to keep in mind for shopping for plants and outdoor decor, grabbing brunch or finding somewhere to host your next major event.

Terrain, Anthropologie’s sister brand, just opened its next IRL location, and the place is filled with draping greenery, the scent of nature-themed candles and various spaces that weave indoor and outdoor elements together.

Where Is Terrain and When Does It Open?

The new Terrain store opens today, Aug. 26, at 297 Boston Post Road in Wayland, Mass.

Right off the road, the location is right near a country club and golf course, as well as state wetlands that add to the vibe and natural feel.

“We’re thrilled to open Terrain at Wayland Village and introduce Massachusetts to everything we have to offer,” said Beth Smith, managing director of Terrain, in a statement. “Terrain has always been about more than shopping; it’s about celebrating the seasons, connecting with nature, and creating spaces that bring people together. We look forward to welcoming customers in to a destination they’ll return to throughout the year for gardening, entertaining, dining, and gathering with family and friends.”

The home and garden store itself will be open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The café, which offers elevated American food and a stocked bar, will be open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

What Does Terrain Offer?

In addition to its store and café, Terrain has partnered with the Massachusetts Horticultural Society for donations and collaborations and has implemented nursery, garden and event services, including weddings at this location.

The nursery includes tons of plants and seasonal items, such as pumpkins for fall and Christmas trees in the winter.

Meanwhile, the Terrain Gardens are over 8,700 square feet of indoor event space that features large windows, natural elements and views of the area’s wetlands and the neighboring course. There are also two get-ready rooms available for wedding events.

In addition to the physical spaces, there are also services available, such as potting and plant curation, in-house floral design and the ability to have the design team come to your home or space to decorate your entryway, indoor area or seasonal items, like Christmas trees.

What’s in Terrain Stores Right Now?

In the shoppable part of this new, cohesive space, Terrain is offering many of its most popular products, as well as a bunch of plants that can be found outside in the nursery, interwoven among items like candles, plant care kits, pots and even some local offerings.

Right now, the store is also leaning heavily into the upcoming fall and Halloween season, with themed candles, spooky plants and more decor items.

So if you’ve been eyeing a few products online for the season but would rather check them out in person and you’re in the Greater Boston area, there’s no better time than now to check out what may soon become the area’s most loved gardening and home destination.

But if you can visit, make sure to give yourself plenty of time, as the store is not only quite large, it’s also stocked to the brim with finds any plant lover would be obsessed with. Plus, you never know what you’ll find when you slow down and take your time to look around this new and immersive space.
