From unicorns to firefighters, a lot of kids and their parents made it out to the Alaska Botanical Gardens for the first-ever BOOtanical Music Together Mountain Song event. The Botanical Gardens has plenty of spooky decorations, including a skeleton band who are just dying to entertain. Megan Coon, the music director of Music Together Mountain Song, shares that the BOOtanical music tour came about after they had a great event during the summer.
“It’s so much fun to get to see the gardens transformed for Halloween and to get to sing some songs that are a little different than our usual curriculum and kind of Halloweenify them. It’s pretty fun,” said Megan Coon.
Dorothy Giurleo was visiting Alaska and just happened to hear about this event, and decided to check it out once they got in.
“I was really impressed with the turnout. I felt like there was a lot of people who were here, and I felt like all the parents and children were really engaging. It was really awesome,” said Dorothy Giurleo.
And her kids, Gavin and Madelaine, had a lot of fun as well, with Gavin liking what they did for the decorations.
“The reusing of the parts, like for the spiders. They reused like parts of old things,” said Gavin Giurleo.
His sister had a lot of fun doing all the songs and doing the dances.
“Yeah,” said Madelaine Giurleo when asked if she had fun at the event.
Firefighter Venice liked being able to get out and about, saying, “I loved walking through the trails and seeing those beautiful flowers.”
This is the only BOOtanical musical event of the season, but Music Together Mountain Song says more events are planned for the winter.
