Hello, I’m wondering if anyone has any recommendations on brands for predator deterrent motion sensors. Im looking to by at least 3 and am thinking of a light and/or sound deterrent. Any help appreciated! Thanks.

Another option you may not have thought of – motion detection lawn sprinklers. Recommend Orbit brand for this purpose

‘you’ are the best deterrent .. rf motion detectors are cheap and can definitely alert you if something is around your coop, then take it from there .. I eventually got setup with a 35 PCP with night vision on a tripod in the window .. sent a lot of coons etc to heaven ..

As far as day time goes, I fenced a “chicken yard” area off with T posts and 6’ chicken wire with 1’ curled out, plus 3’ x 1/4” hard wire cloth around the bottom with 1’ curled in and weighted with 16” pavers around the perimeter. Their coop is also completely done in 1/4” hard wire cloth. Crows visit daily to pick up some of the food scraps we throw out which deters hawks and owls. At night we have motion activated solar lights to scare off or alert us of predators and then rely on the trusty old 12 gauge if need be. First time ever we had rats show up around the coop and no traps or anything worked. Saw a guy’s post here with the same problem and he put a thermal scope on a pellet gun and sniped them at night. I tried it and it’s very effective, even fun if I’m honest. For snakes, ceramic eggs in the boxes. We haven’t lost a chicken to a predator in years. Hope that gives you some ideas and helps OP.
