I have been reading this sub for a wile and want to thank all of you for your great tips.

I have been trying to grow my favorite yellow crookneck for the last few years never having much luck. I was not harvesting very many squash, they were always small and seemed soft and hollow.

Someone here suggested to remove some leaves from the plant. Not all the leaves but maybe about 25%, just enough to let daylight in. almost every time I go into the garden I break off a few leaves down low on the main stem, this will let the bees in to do their work. I only have two plants growing from the same spot but I have been getting a few squash every day. We have enjoyed over 20 so far and I have about 12 sitting on my counter right now. and more to be picked tomorrow.

I thought I just had bad luck with bad plants. So thank you kind internet stranger for suggesting the flowers were not getting pollinated because of all the leaves blocking the flowers.

Is that rugosa friulana? I’ve been breaking off leaves but my results are still sub par, mainly to do with not getting male flowers to bloom when the female flowers are ready. But this was a good reminder to trim off more leaves tomorrow am 😁
