University of Illinois Extension will host two new webinars this fall as part of its free Four Seasons Gardening series, covering how to overwinter tender perennial plants and how to advocate for community trees, according to a release from Extension.
The sessions are scheduled for Sept. 15 and Oct. 20. Both will be presented live online beginning at 1:30 p.m., and registration is required at go.illinois.edu/FourSeasons, the release said.
The Sept. 15 session, “Bringing the Outside In: Overwintering Tender Perennial Plants,” will offer options and strategies for overwintering and propagating tender perennial plants such as zonal geraniums, black and blue salvia, coleus and lemon grass, according to the release.
The Oct. 20 session, “Speak for the Trees: Community Advocacy for Urban Forests,” will provide residents with tools, resources and strategies to champion healthy urban forests, the release said.
Extension educators Nancy Kuhajda and Emily Swihart will lead the fall series sessions, according to the release. Extension said the series focuses on home gardening, environmental stewardship and backyard food production, with horticulture experts presenting tips and answering questions.
Every program is recorded and posted to the Illinois Extension Horticulture YouTube channel about two weeks after the live program, the release said.
