A suspect who led a pursuit in Miami Gardens while shooting at officers was arrested after the chase came to an end on Monday morning, according to the Opa-locka Police Department.
Opa-locka Police said their officers were assisting the Miami Gardens Police Department during “an active vehicle pursuit involving a subject connected to a felony investigation.” Police did not describe the nature of that investigation.
That subject opened fire at law enforcement while fleeing from Miami Gardens into Opa-locka, police said.
The chase came to an end when the suspect took off on foot in the area of Northwest 107th Street and Northwest 17th Avenue, according to authorities.
That person was then taken into custody without further incident. Video showed a bullet hole in the back window of the suspect vehicle.
During the pursuit, police said a Miami Gardens officer was involved in a crash in the area of Northwest 22nd Avenue and Northwest 135th Street.
Emergency crews responded to that location. It was not immediately clear if the officer was injured.
