What else do you plant as a ground cover?
Instead of filling every open space with traditional ground covers, try edible herbs that can do double duty. 🌿
Creeping thyme stays low and helps shade the soil, oregano naturally fills gaps but can spread vigorously, and bee balm forms patches through underground rhizomes while bringing tons of pollinator activity. 🐝🌸
Plus, all three can offer something edible right from the garden. 🌱

Strawberries. I no longer have to weed that small groove between my house and pavers. They have shallow roots so they don't ruin the house or pavers.
Strawberries for me too. My main bed filled up and they're overflowing down the sides of my beds into 4 cell pots.

I prefer mint honestly, you just cut it back where you want to plant and my plants do just fine surrounded by it. Especially if the potted plant has deeper roots than mint.
I have apple mint in one planter box and just cut it down every year. Got thriving goldenrod, eggplant, Hyssop, snapdragon and a couple other things.
