I received a terrarium as a gift, it’s beautiful and I love it but it doesn’t appear to be air tight. Do terrariums need to be air tight? Will the soil mites escape?

Soil mites? Do you mean springtails?
Air tight isnt a requirement. It just means you need to keep a closer eye on moisture levels and water when needed. Does it have a base gravel level?
