Charity's sensory garden raises more than £750 to support children with SEND

A sensory garden has helped raise more than £750 to support children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

Dorset disability charity Diverse Abilities opened its Hurn-based facility The Treehouse as part of the National Garden Scheme, inviting visitors to explore its sensory garden and Nature Nook.

The event attracted more than 65 visitors, who learned about the charity’s work and explored the accessible outdoor space designed for children and young people with SEND.

Francesca Potton, community fundraiser at Diverse Abilities, said: “It was wonderful to welcome visitors to The Treehouse and share our gardens with the wider community.

“The event was a fantastic opportunity to raise awareness of the support we provide for children and young people with SEND, while also raising vital funds to help us continue delivering our services.

“We’d like to thank everyone who came along and supported us.”

The funds raised will help children with SEND access specialist sessions and services at The Treehouse.

These services give children the chance to build confidence, develop new skills, and enjoy new experiences in a safe, supportive setting.
