Trellising/staking in semi hydro—any advice? There is not much on the Internet as far as how to do this other than with a moss pole. Stability and pole rot are a concern. Thank you! Photo for tax.

I really struggle with watering my Begonia luxurians consistently since she’s a damn camel, but I currently have some cuttings that are very well rooted in water. I’d like to use them to start a second plant and grow this one entirely in semi-hydro/LECA.

My main concern is support. Begonia luxurians grows ridiculously fast and gets HUGE, so I know it’s eventually going to need a pretty substantial trellis or stake.

Has anyone grown a large Begonia luxurians (or another big cane begonia) in LECA? How did you trellis it?

I want the plant to stay completely portable, so I don’t want to attach anything to a wall. I’m also looking for something that won’t rot from constantly being around water and will actually stay stable in LECA once the plant gets tall and top-heavy.
Would love to see pictures of your setups or hear what has worked!
