My silver sword was looking kind of sad in the spring. I cut 8 or so leaves off of it. THAT was what it needed and it grew like crazy, to 5'+

Tonight i was trying figure out how to support the new growth. I ended up extending with 4 zip ties and a rounded trellis. very hapy with the results. not sure what I'm going to do when it gets 6'-7' tall…will probably need to repot and build new trellis then.

That’s what happens when you don’t use moss poles. I do usually, but I put a Florida Ghost on a wooden dowel and it’s massive and getting near the top. I can put a longer dowel but stability and vertical space become an issue. What I’ll probably do is air layer some nodes near the middle, chop and put the top section on a moss pole like I should’ve in the first place and sell the base. I’m curious about how you make the trellis because I make my own. I tried different ropes like jute and hemp and tried different knots but nothing would stay secure long-term. I finally decided to use cable ties. They provide a secure hold that doesn’t slip, and I can make a trellis quickly.
