St. John’s Retirement Village will host Cena in Giardino de Gibson, or Dinner in the Garden, on Saturday, Sept. 12, from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Gibson House.
According to a local press release, the event is an exciting collaboration of local chefs, seasoned culinary students from four schools, and the best produce and wines from Yolo County coming together to celebrate Italy – Woodland-style.
“Tom and I are so excited to be joining everyone at the Cena in Giardino in September,” Cate Loewen stated. “We have been devoted to the village since Tom’s mother lived there and loved the annual Rhythm & Ribs. But we’re really looking forward to pretending we’re in Italy. We can’t wait to experience all our favorites like caprese salad, lasagne, wine & limoncello, plus Italian music and lots of great company!”
Cena in Giardino is also a collaboration with Yolo Arts that’s showcasing their annual Ag Art Farm Gala exhibits being shown in the Gibson House Barn. Cena guests will have an opportunity to register for the Oct. 17 Annual Ag Art Gala auction and bid on artwork or photography that will be on exhibit on Sept. 12.
For our guests who enjoy history, tours of the 1877 Gibson House built by William Byas and Mary Cook Gibson will be available. Order your table or tickets quickly by Aug. 15 at www.sjrv.org.
Proceeds from “Dinner in the Garden” will primarily go toward upgrading the five-year fire inspection program, xeriscaping the campus, taking care of deferred maintenance, and renovating the apartments, the Lodge, and the cottages.
