A community gardening group is calling on residents to lend a hand this August as Mullion in Bloom prepares for the first of its autumn ‘Garden Glean’ sessions.
The volunteer‑led initiative, which looks after green spaces around the village, is inviting anyone with an hour or two to spare to join them on Sunday, August 16 from 2pm for a light afternoon of weeding, tidying and general garden care.
Organisers say the sessions work “a bit like beach cleans, but for our green spaces”, offering a simple way for people to support the village’s appearance and meet others in the community.
Volunteers don’t need any gardening experience – just enthusiasm and a few basic tools such as gloves, a trowel, fork or secateurs. A mug is also recommended, with drinks and biscuits provided.
The group meets at Mullion Garden, and while the session is planned to go ahead, organisers note they will “reconsider if weather is against us”.
Further Garden Gleans are scheduled for September 20, October 18 and November 15.
