So you’ve fluttered by South Coast Botanic Garden in recent months, all to soak in some of the fantastical sights hidden among its shrubs and trees?
Then you’ve been terrifically Troll’d, lucky you: The spunky and sassy sculptures, which depict several planet-loving, personality-filled characters, have been charming visitors to the Palos Verde Peninsula garden since late winter.
It will soon be time for the Thomas Dambo TROLLS: A Field Study to trundle on toward their next adventure, but fans of oversized artworks that inspire and engage won’t have to wait long for new immersive wonder: “Dinosaurs Around the World: The Great Outdoors” is making a return to South Coast Botanic Garden starting in November.
Perhaps you roamed among these prehistoric critters when they called upon the pretty property last fall, and the early part of 2026: There were a variety of dinosaurs, including an impressively sized Tyrannosaurus rex, and while the figures are not animatronic, they boast plenty of character.

Now a caboodle of throwback beasties will again grace the garden, with 11 dinosaurs on view from Nov. 7 through Jan. 31, 2027.
“This year’s experience welcomes back the fan-favorite Tyrannosaurus rex while introducing several new prehistoric creatures, including an all-new interactive photo opportunity,” shared the garden team.
Other good things are ahead at the garden, including the West Coast premiere of the vibrant installation “Vivid Creatures” next spring.
But if you’d like to take in the Trolls before they merrily disperse, you’ve got time: They’ll remain on playful view through Oct. 4, 2026.
For everything that is blooming at South Coast Botanic Garden, be it art, floral, or musical, roll like a Troll by this site.
