Neighbor behind me cut his trees down so now I’m looking at his house. I planted three young giant arborvitae. Any other suggestions what I can plant between them? North Carolina zone 8a. The area is highly shaded with lots of mature silver maples, black walnuts, and sweet gums around.

Look into Oakleaf Hydrangeas! They thrive under deep canopy shade from silver maples and black walnuts, plus they give gorgeous fall color.
