Cutback and fertilized last spring but still looking rough.
Should we try to revive these shrubs some more or do my husband and I get rid of them? I have no attachment to the holly plants. Our neighbor, who's lived in the neighborhood for 30+ years, says he thinks they might be original to when the house was built nearly 50 years ago. I don't think they're that old.
And yes, everything else needs to be cleaned up too!

I like to revive plants, but, I usually tell people in this situation to go w their heart. Do you like it? Do you just want a nice looking plant right now? It is salvageable but may take a year. Cut back all stems w no leaves and maybe even ones w pales leaves, and add a weak fert. and mulch. If you are not feeling it, dig that thing out.
