Hi all.
First time posting here, long time lurker.
I had a firepit installed by a landscaper in the early summer. After the heavy rain it’s not draining. I asked him and there was no clear stone placed, just landscape fabric on top of the dirt, the stone dust compacted above that.
How can I get this to drain properly? He suggested adding 6 inches of stone dust on top of the existing.
Any other suggestions?

Where is it gonna drain to? It needs a channel somewhere lower for all that water to go.
uh…You have to play lots of $ for a pool side fireplace, but you could also put a cooler of beer in the middle and you’ve got herself a hill billie pool side bar!
Is it the stone dust that has compacted and causing this to look like a pond? Would adding even more just make the whole problem worse?
It looks like you might be able to make a swale at the opening in the armourstone (where the pump is) down towards the woods. The soil and grass look higher than the stone dust so its basically going to be a pond.
Adding stone dust sounds like a temporary solution it will probably end up washing away with another heavy rain. A real crusher run base with flagstone or interlock would stop the erosion, but that could be pricey if you have to dig up and redo what the landscaper did.

What about a French drain around the edge. Move the rocks dig a deep trench put in a perforated hose and cover with pea gravel. Put the rocks back. It would stop much of the water from pooling
Why the hell did they design it as a frikkin basin??
