willamette valley oregon, this came up in one of my flower beds which didn’t have ant plants in it in previous years. any ideas? it’s probably 5 feet tall just this summer

poisonous to dogs, humans, esp. kids who are attracted to the berries. pull up if you have them around. good in the wild for birds.
Pokeweed. Super toxic and highly irritating to skin. Also so difficult to get rid off.
Poke weed.
Poke weed. If you have a spade or a hoe, dig it out. It is native to eastern North America and is problematic west of the rockies.
I’m not going to violate the rules of this forum to say anything additional, but if you are going to dig it up keep in mind the most toxic part of the plant is the root – to my knowledge, the only really confirmed case of death I’ve heard from ingestion was someone who ate the root by mistake. If you’re going to handle that part, take precautions
