Like, a lot. I’m in southern Massachusetts near the ocean. Any recs for how/when to deal with this? The area doesn’t get a lot of sun (like maybe half the day of direct sunlight). Side note, the front yard is better and for some barer spots there I used the Jonathan Green Black Beauty Ultra in the spring and it came up so fast and green I want to sleep in it. That stuff is amazing. But the back yard is 50% 🦀 so looking for recommendations there. Thanks in advance!

Quinclorac and MSO. Just Google it and buy some of both. Add marker dye to see where you’ve sprayed. Preemergent this fall/spring.

If your looking to treat the crabgrass right now, you may want something like Ortho Weed b Gon with Quinclorac which will threat broadleaf weeds (Clover, etc) + Crabgrass. Honestly its good but for this amount not great, the product i tried which worked well was XLR8, you tank mix with water and a methylated seed oil (MSO) and it will kill all your crabgrass.
Come next spring you will need to put down preemergent when the soil temperature have a 50 degree 5 day average end of may/early april to prevent it
Live with this season – pre emergent next spring and summer.
I had big patches in my fescue lawn (in NY) and used Acclaim Extra about two weeks ago. Almost all of my crabgrass is dying off, but it only works on grassy weeds like crabgrass. The fescue seems unaffected. Be sure to follow mixing instructions and avoid rain.
Spectrum weedstop+crabgrass hooks onto a hose for spraying is what I used after buying a house that didnt use preemergent.

use tenacity but your lawn will look like crap for a while as it dies
i would spot nuke and seed later this month.
I have applied the JG dense shade variety and it comes up nice. It has rye and fescue components that also does not require a lot of water. Fast germination.
Fine fescue would also do well there, but it doesn’t blend well with JG or any TTTF.

I have been spot treating with a grass safe weed killer, has been working!
