We’ve taken some time off work to landscape our wildlife garden and are now nearly done so deciding when best to plant everything. We’ve got a few trees and mainly hardy perennials that we picked up cheap. We’ve got a bit of finishing off to do but hoping to get everything wrapped up in the next day or so. Thanks!.

It’s not ideal to be planting now but it’s not impossible.
Watering appropriately would be important
Ideally wait until September when the ground is wetter. They’ll be under a lot of stress if you’re in drought conditions like many are
If you’ve already got them, then now.
You don’t want to be leaving them in those tiny pots.
I would plant them out in a shadier spot, perhaps in a bigger pot & mulch round the roots. I’d ordered some herbs in June & they arrived during a red weather alert. I put them in an old water filled oven tray in the shade, then planted them up in ceramic pots with a mulch to conserve water.
Group any pots together or if planting in your border provide shade, so they won’t be in the sun all day.
I mean i would just do it now. Put each pot soaking in a tray of water , dig your holes, fill each hole with water before planting , water it in really well tomorrow morning.
Waiting until at least October would be best, summer planting is not good because the plant is stressed trying to put out new roots in already super dry soil, best to wait until October at least that way the rains come in September and the plants will be a lot less stressed, they’ll be able to get used to the new home before the first frosts come in around November to January (depending on where you live) and it’ll give them the best chance to get going in Spring. Ideally though the best time to plant annuals, biennials and perennials is Spring time, after the last frost and plenty of rain and some sun to get them going
Depends what you’re planting! For example, bulbs and some forms require autumn planting, but other things require spring planting after all frosts have passed – usually from the end of March, but that’s not set in stone, it depends very much what the weather is like!
Just to add I’ve got over all the ground with a tiller so it should not be too compacted
