I literally don't know anything about trees. This very large branch grows toward and over my driveway. I've lived here for 4 years and prune the branches every now and then because my wife loses her sh*t when spiders drop on the car lol I'm pretty positive that crack wasn't there 3 years ago. Something to worry about? That's probably about an 18 inch circumference branch.

It’s just happy to see you
It seems like that branch is trying to overtake the main branch that should be in the middle of the tree. When this happens a lot of energy goes to that branch anf also a lot of weight will eventually be put on it. A branch going upwards can take that weight, a branch going horizontal and then upwards could form a risk to breaking due to the amount of weight on the horizontal part.
