Hi everyone! I have taken a new interest in plants & recently received this propagated pothos back in May. I’ve been keeping her in this mason jar on my fireplace ledge. I change the water once every week or two. Since May, she’s grown 1 leaf & a few aerial roots (which i just learned). She has yet to grow any roots in the water. I also just learned that the root system prefers to grow in darker environments. I guess my question are.. Should I be submerging the aerial roots in water? And should i invest in a darker vase? What are some tips to get her growing? I would hate to stunt it.

Patience. These things can take lots of time.
I don’t know why it hasn’t grown roots, but I would recommend cutting between each node and propagating each leaf separately. Make sure the node is fully covered by water at all times. You could also probably cut more of the vine off, it only needs the node for roots and more vine is just asking for more rot in the water.
Also, don’t change the water unless it gets gross or funky. Pothos put out a rooting hormone in the water so it’s helpful to let it benefit from its own rooting hormone water
That last picture…the node isn’t even in the water. The roots come out of the node, not the bottom. Also, that’s kind of a lot of plant for a water prop. Yes, people do prop whole cuttings like that but the plant won’t have to work as hard to root if you make smaller cuttings. Each leaf comes from a node, which in turn will make more roots and give you more “pieces” to make a fuller plant.
Plants need light for photosynthesis. You can put the roots in a darker vase but you don’t really have to. The leaves need good light though.
Hi! I also did some pothos water propagations of my own! I had them in clear mason jars but I had mine in a west facing window, changing the water (spring water) every 5-7 days. It took a few weeks to start seeing roots. I started June 25th, the photo is July 16th…. I just potted them in soil on 8/1…
From your photos it looks like there is only one node near the bottom where roots would grow from… and that may be why you haven’t had any grow other than the aerial ones you spoke of…

Is that picture in the glass how you’ve had it? Because if so, you just don’t have the actual nodes in the water, new roots will grow from the nodes, so at least one node has been submerged, so you need to add more water, you can even chop the stem below the bottom node (the part you have in the water in the picture with the glass) because both happens from the stem anyway. I circled the nodes for you!

Fill it up and don’t change the water. just add more as it evaporates
You need the nodes in the water. Or at least a node.
