This past Saturday, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Mass & MetroWest brought Matches together for an inspiring day at the New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill in Boylston. Littles aged 13 and up explored the garden’s grounds alongside their Bigs, then sat in on a staff-led panel discussion exploring career paths in conservation, environmental science, and natural resources. For many of the Littles, it was a first glimpse into careers they’d never considered — planting the seed for what they might become. Moments like these show what mentorship can do beyond the everyday: opening doors, sparking curiosity, and helping young people picture a future they hadn’t imagined for themselves.
