A tortoise discovered in garden waste at a Cornish waste and recycling centre has been reunited with his owners after staff launched a search to trace where he came from.
Arnie the tortoise has been safely returned home after an unexpected adventure that saw him turn up among garden waste at St Erth Household Waste and Recycling Centre.
Staff were surprised to discover the wandering reptile tucked in with the green waste this week.
Unsure where he had come from, the team quickly set about trying to find his owner – even contacting everyone who had booked a visit to the site in hopes of tracking down his family.
Their efforts paid off. Arnie has now been reunited with his relieved owners and is back home, safe and sound, after what turned out to be quite the accidental outing.
